Twilight Love is built around a 3.60 carat oval spinel from Sri Lanka, a stone with a grayish violet color that sits somewhere between dusk and nightfall. Set in 950 platinum with four sharp prongs and encircled by 27 VS1 brilliant cut diamonds totalling 0.239 carats, the pendant frame adds a ring of light around a stone that already has plenty of its own.
This pendant is part of a sibling set, paired with a second 3.58 carat spinel pendant from the same collection. Each piece stands entirely on its own. Together they are something else entirely.

For centuries, the finest red spinels were mistaken for rubies. The Black Prince's Ruby, one of the most famous gemstones in the British Crown Jewels, is in fact a spinel. It was only in the late 18th century that science caught up with what the stone actually was.
